Default Headers

I am probably going to buy some headers this summer, which ones should I buy?
I was look maybe at the Hooker Super comp long tubes. I want also to get some good cats on the y-pipe. I am a student so I dont have money coming out of my ears, I am looking to spend under a grand, or even slightly over. I would appreciate any advice.

I got a dual-catted Random Technology Y-Pipe from Martel Brothers for a decent price. I hear catco has good cats for cheap prices as well.

Hookers are now made in the U.S. by HOLLEY. Probably better than they used to be,as they were previously made in Mexico......like said above, Pacesetters are inexpensive and fit well most say.

the difference in the hookers and pacesetters price is just around 200 new, that isnt that bad, if the hookers are better then I would rather go with them, but are the pacesetters comparible? Also the random tech y-pipe with cats is like $500, I always thought that it was for the stock manifolds or Shortie headers.

Pacesetters are similar in design, coating may be of a little less quality. They do their job tho! another vote for random tech catted y, i ran one years ago, and liked it

I have the coated pacesetters with the pacesetter Y-pipe. well under a grand. Got the headers off e-bay and the y-pipe from a sponser. I want to say I paid around 550 for both? Installed myself. (Which was really fun)

Get coated headers. The engine bay is so cramped that its going to be very hot, coated headers will keep that temp down a little bit. They are more expensive however. I got Pacesetter coated headers, and I couldnt be more happy. Install was fairly easy, got both in from the top, but I did have to "clearance" one of the primary's on the drivers side to get it to slide in, but no big deal to me as I'm not making enough power to where that will destroy my power. Pass side dropped right in (literally, they fell down into place) when i took the bolt out of the pass side motor mount and twisted the motor. Plug access is GREAT with these headers as well. And I only paid $393 shipped for the headers, and another $140 shipped for the ORY.

So the pacesetters are a really good deal eh? Sounds good to me. I was looking through summit racing and the hookers say that they are tuned but the pacesetters are not, what is the difference?

Between the pacesetters and hookers what is the difference? Long Tubes only

No hooker long tubes will not come with any of the emmissions fittings besides the O2 bungs. As for your other post, FLP made a nice set of headers for LT1's. Unfortunatley they are out of production now. I've personally had good experience with the pacesetters, so my votes for them. I found this post on a different forum to be extremely helpful.

FLP makes a good longtube header. The quality is similar to QTP and Kooks, which is top-notch.

I had a set of Pacesetter Shorties, and the left side hits the steering shaft. Pacesetters are less quality than Hookers. I am upgrading to a set of Hooker Super Comp Coated Long Tubes, with a Y Pipe. I am Spending about $850, but they will last a long time. My Pacesetter Shorties rusted through in 9 months....

I got coated Pacesetter LT's for $385 from a sponsor here witching matching Y-pipe $130 and couldn't be happier. I run a single Carsound/Magnaflow Cat after the Y and that cost $60 from Summit.

I'm running Pacestter Mid-length headers and couldn't be any happier. Fit is perfect and I love the sound of them with a gutted cat and stock cat-back.

you prolly got one of the first set of Pacesetter shorties, like the one TSP tested on mine. There were quite a few fitment issues with them, but have since been redesigned and offer much better clearance. Pacesetters are more the likely the best "bang for the buck" headers you will find IMO.

Yea, could of been, it was a while ago. I am still liking my Hooker LT's, they will last a while longer. With anything, you get what you pay for.
