The Extreme Duty chain set is not as loud as a double roller. This should not be it. If it the Opti and it is whining that bad you need to pull it before something breaks worse. Is it a metal-on-metal whine?

not really sure. For some reason when the car first starts when cold, you can barley here the noise it is just a slight noise, but when it gets warmed up it gets louder. So when things get heated they expand, maybe something is rubbing when hot? But also when you drive for a while it gets quieter. I pretty much have no earthly idea what it could be. But the car runs fine runs smooth and revs fast and does not hessitate, and it has great throttle response.

Every time I let a weird noise go without figuring it out and fixing it, it breaks and leaves me stranded somewhere at least 10 miles from home, so I don't do it anymore. Also you could be generating metal chips or who knows what else to damage the motor or parts. My advice, pull the Opti and check everything. Pain in the ***? Sure, but less of one than being stranded and paying for a tow at 2 in the morning... Been there, done that. Flatbed = $125 gone.

ever consider that it might be the water pump? since you just put in an electric pump AND cam, don't assume it's the cam. that, and the bumping up the idle 200rpm sounds like a pump turning on and off...doesn't it? ....just my thoughts...
