Default Block

im thinking of buying a 350 4 bolt main and build it from scratch (also going to make it into a 383) and install it into my 95 Z, plus i would like to switch the engine ONLY and leave the all the wires and fuel system alone. any suggestions before i buy the bare block.

Its doable. definitely, but I think its going to take alot of time and money to figure out what you are going to do with the harness and the speedo and stuff. Go for it though.

No problem. Just move everything out of the way and change the motor, then put everything back. I recommend the GMPP 4-bolt 350 block, unless you have enough cash to step up the the Dart or Motown block. I am using the GMPP 4-bolt with a half-fill of block filler (HardBlok) for rigidity, on my blown/nitrous 383 with no problems.

If you want to take full advantage of the 350 I wouldnt go with a LT1, the timing set up and the heads limit you big time.

Almost any 3/4 ton truck from the 70s till the early 90s has a 4 bolt main 350. If you go with a Gen1 350 there are so many different head choices, from crazy wild to regular unleaded mild.
