Ok, right now I have the mods currently listed in my sig, a hotcam, with 1.6rr's, lt4 timing chain, and lt4 heads, yada yada yada. Ok, next week, I'd like to do a cam swap, I'd like to go bigger, an 847 or cc306, but on compcams website, it says that the cc306 is only available for 93-96 lt1's, whats the deal with that? If the cc306 doesn't fit, i'd like to also get a gm847 cam as I've heard good things about them. So I'm on summit right now, and if someone could please tell me what else I'd need to complete the cam swap, I'd be very grateful, I am not going cheap and wimping out on cheap parts, I want the best parts I can get on summits website. I'd like to know if possible, what would be the best springs to get if I need to upgrade, * i have lt4 assembled heads right now, i bought and installed the lt4 kit*. I also have 1.6rr's that I'll be using with the 847. So far I have in mind this:

Gm847 cam
918 or kmotion k800 springs?
comp titanium retainers
comp locks? #10
comp springlocators?
comp hardened pushrods *Length???*
GMPP guideplates
and i'll probably upgrade my lifters to comp hydraulic lifters 850-16

i have this stuff in mind, so basically what I'm asking is, will it all work, and work efficiently, and are they the best parts that will give me the most power. thanks a lot!

Why not really upgrade to a solid roller by Comp? You won't spend too much more (mostly lifters) but the payoff is freakin' primo! And you only have to adjust them maybe every 6-10K miles, or once a year.

i've considered it, but i don't want anything that big, just bigger than what I got, and from what I've read, the 847 is a really good with a h/c and fullbolt on setup. anyone?

It depends on where you want to make the power and how much driveability you want to retain. The 847 doesn't do much until about 3k, if that's ok with you then it might be a good choice.

For a daily driven car, I like the xe 230/236, lots of people are making good numbers with that cam and it will have better street manners than the 306 or 847.

i found this cam on summits site, i like the numbers on it. However, I'm not 100% sure how to calculate proper spring height/size. I see a few sets of beehive springs on summits site, but I'm not sure of the coil bind sizes and proper seat height for this cam. If anyone could recommend me a nice set, I'd be very thankful. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

the XFI grinds reccomend the beehive springs and the lift #'s listed on summits site are w/1.6 rockers not 1.5 as the site states

That's actually the xfi one (different than the xe, what I was referring to). That one should work very well too though.
