Will 1.6RR's benifit my stock '97 LT1?
Out of curiosity, will 1.6 roller rockers benefit my stock LT1 with only exhaust-work done? How much gains will I get with them? I don't plan on doing this, but I'm just curious. Thanks guys.

exactly what I understood from what I've been reading, but I'm new to this and would like to know the answer in detail.

from what i hear, the LT4 hotcam is not a good choice for stock heads. however, i am hazy in this field of knowlege so i may be wrong. so with 1.6's there is a significant increase in power? can anyone clarify this?

the LT4 hotam is fine for stock heads. if anything it's quite an old grind and pretty much just outdated. you can get much better grinds now. the only thing really going for it is the price and everyone knows about it. don't get my wrong, i have a hotcam, but i got the stupidest deal on it ever, so there was no turning it down.
the rockers don't JUST increase lift. at a certain lift, it actually increases duration. so if your peak flow is at .400" lift then you will be open at or above .400" lift for longer with a 1.6 rocker than a 1.5. i'll see if i can dig up a pic to post in just a second.
pretend the black is the cam lobe itself, purple is a 1.5 rocker, blue is 1.6, and red is 1.7 and that should explain it.

As you state, the ramp rate is effectively increased, so the valve will hit any specific lift value (say .050") slightly quicker, and hold it for slightly longer...ie. more duration.

I like CompCams ProMagnums, although there are a number of quality options on the market. Just about any performance parts distributor will have them...ex. Summit, Jegs, etc.
Oh yeah...your stock rockers are self-aligning, so unless you are going to install guideplates and hardened pushrods, make sure you pick up SA rockers.
Stock stud size is 3/8".
If you go with aluminum body rockers, make sure to look for a narrow-body design, or you'll have trouble getting them under center-bolt valve covers.
Be aware that you'll likely have to grind down the driptabs on the valve covers a bit to clear the rockers.
