Please explain more. That's way to vague. Tell that to someone who spins the motor @ or past 7000 rpm's. People choose thier gears based on the wrong info and myths.

Actually unless you change your gear ratios of the 4L60E I still think 3:42s are perfect. You can maintain normal driving, get decent mpg, have a max speed well beyond what you can hit with 4:10s and still run a decent 1/4. (I was spinning to 6300rpm). If you run down the track and don't drive the car in normal traffic then I can see where 4:10s would benefit you. Otherwise I PERSONALLY don't think its worth the sacrifice to have them in a daily driver.

Hmm very odd. My '94 with just a muffler (A4) hit 100.5 in the quarter.

As I asked before, how many miles and what tune up parts have you replaced recently?

Gears and the Right Suspension/Tire/Converter setup are worth a good chunk of ET.

I'll back that one. I have some good tires, Eibach Springs, and 3.73's, and it launches really nice, and accelerates strong. I might have a Cam also, but gears are a big part. I like them on the street playing with people, they have a little edge.

Nah. What gear are you in when you finish at the track?

I have 3.73's in my A4, and it will still go up to 170mph. It gets to it a little quicker now. 3.73's are a good mid ratio.

Obviously 3rd since 3:42s on a 4L60E tops a little over 125mph.

4:10s would have had me in 4th gear at 3900rpm for my traps at the time. After the CC306 and headers 4:10s would have had me at 42xxrpm at the end of the track in 4th gear. Whereas 3:42s would have had me a 51xxrpm in 3rd at the end of the track.
