Default catch can

I will finally be installing my catch can and breather filter tomorrow. here is a list of parts for anyone who has been wanting to know.

[from home depot]

1 Husky mini general purpose filter, 1/4" (ACOMPFLT) $11.97
2 1/4" brass screw to 3/8" nipple fitting (MALESHOSEEND) $1.19 each

[from oreilly's autoparts]

1 2' Fuel Hose (P504) $2.29

[from advance autoparts]

1 Purolator breather filter (B23165) $3.97


also thanks to horsekilla 95TA and buffman for the initial idea on what parts i needed ect.

i'll be installing it tomorrow so i'll let you guys know how it goes.

i got mine off of ebay.... too big, I cant find anywhere to place it. anyone who wants it pm me. i'll let it go cheap. it is really nice I just dont have the time and patience to find a decent spot for it. my engine is crammed.

i think it was the same one you went with. the cylinder with the tube on the side to let you know how much is in it. plus the tube and hose clamps. looks nice just is huge

well stopping the oil getting into the intake track would not only cut down on oil consumption but help out with pre-detonation. the oil lowers the octane of the gas you run and therefore hinders performance. its cheap and easy so why not ya know?

Keep oil out of the intake track while retaining posotive venilation in the crankcase. The result of just using a breather to obtain the same results will result in unmetered air in the crankcase.

Please elaborate. Are you saying that just using a breather and capping off the tube to the throttle body is the same as the oil seperator?

When the heck did I say that? What I said was using a breather allows unmetered air into the crankcase.

That sounds like exactly what I used except I used a BF419 I believe for the filter on the passenger side valve cover. The catch can works great on my car I have prevented about 1/2 quart from entering the intake with my setup in the last 15,000 miles. Just remember to remove the small filter from the inside of the bowl of the mini filter you are using.

Sorry I never posted up pics of mine I completely forgot about it, I can get some up tommorrow if it would help. My engine bay is extremely diry so you have to promise not to make fun of it....lol

You can use the filter as long as youre not using synthetic oil.

Post some pics please. I really need to do this too. I've been getting alot of oil through the breather since I installed the supercharger. I assume I'm getting just as much into the intake.

Something you might wanna consider, which is exactly the reason why I did this on mine, is to do a battery relocation. The previous owner of my car didn't understand alot about battery maintenance judging by how the car looked when I first bought it, (didn't understand alot of anything judging by the # of fuckups I've fixed since I've had it), and subsequently there was battery acid/corrosion all over the inner fenderwell and on top of the battery tray. Paint was eaten away all around that area and it was rusted. Looked like ****. So I relocated my battery to the trunk and took out the stock battery tray/overflow tank in favor of swapping in a stainless overflow tank. The cubbyhole in the framerail that the stock overflow tank resided in was almost the perfect size. Thing is though, with the battery out of the way there is enough space freed up that you could mount two catch cans in that spot if you wanted to: one for the radiator, (if you wanted it), and one for the oil.

Probably a more complicated solution than you wanted to hear but what about these cars isn't complicated?

Glad you bought that up about relocating the battery. I was suppose to relocate mine but I got some other mods instead. That would be a great place for a vaccum canister and a oil catch, and a coolant over flow.
