Oh, I also forgot this, which probably attributes to alot of the factory-freakedness. 1st owner ordered the car new and it was road-raced for the first 10k of it's life. So the motor got broken-in nice and healthy.

Yeah 96-98 cobras are definitely quick. Marginally quicker than LT1's at that...

I agree with the high 13/low 14 out of the 96-98 cobra. I would be carefull.... the 4 valve mustangs take mods well and still get down. Is this for money?

Nope. I should probably take this chance to make some dough though. I've seen the car; stock airbox, stock exhaust. All he's got are the 3.73s and SFCs, but those aren't gonna help him top-end when I destroy him from 2nd through 4th.

I say do some further investigation, but I'm sure you will get him if all he's got is 3:73's
See? Somebody knows what they are talkin about. I'm not saying that you won't beat this car because from the looks of it you will. However a lot of people bash the 96-98's and modded they are really no joke.

eat this guy alive i done it countless times. the guys with these cobras think they really have somethin but once theyre lookin you the tail lights they shut up. you should have no problem draggin him a couple times. and for all those who say they still get down, yeah they get down with other cobras. unless theyve got a nice H/C/I with full bolt ons they arent gonna be doin much. ive seen 96-98 cobras sit on the dyno with LT's, full exhaust, cai, gears, and roller rockers and only put down 290 hp. im not sayin theyre bad cars in general i would just hate to know i was dumpin money into somethin that still wasnt gonna be doin that much as far as the 1/4.

I hate to tell the one guy but a 99 Cobra would have been the one with the "fix" the 96-98 Cobras had no "hp" fix. They are high 13 sec to low 14 sec cars stock. However just like my friends 97, add 4.10s, full exhaust (slp loudmouth I think?), A short throw (cause you gotta have one to go fast ), A drop in K&N, and some Drag Radials and you're running low 13s...

Man I just ran into an 03 Cobra on the high way, he thought I just had a loud exhaust. Lets just say assumption was the mother of his F&$k up. I just kept pulling away. I stoped at a gas station and he pulled in behind and asked what I had and I told him "a lot more cubes than you think"

Buffman, just for you. The car must have been a 99, because it definitely had the fix and it definitely was a no joke car !!! I have never seen another pre 03/04 run this good with bolt-ons. I can tell you right now, if this guy is sandbagging you on any of the stuff your gonna get a mouthful of tailpipe. My car is a pure bolt-on car with everything you could possibly do without going into the motor (the car is even faster now, probably a 12.30/12.40 @ 110/111 mph. Car and it's still pure bolt-on's) and this cobra put-up one incredible fight that night at the strip. I'm still in the opinion that you will more than likely beat him, just be careful of those sneaky mustang guys....

It seems we're a little confused over the body style of the 99 and the 96-98? The 96-98 are the rounder SN-95 body. The 99 is the edgy 99-04 style car. 99 and 01 Cobras run a little better than the 96-98s from what I've seen. Good race for an early LS1 if driven right. Plus, they came in Electric Green, and that's cool as ****.

He said the guy has 3.73 gears.....those will do virtually NOTHING for that cobra. I wouldnt worry unless he has at least 4.30s, that is what most of the cobra guys are running. Actually I have raced a 98 Cobra and they are pretty fast. He had a Cat-back and intake, and all i had was the same. We raced a few times and I walked him every time. The last race was a drag race and I had him all the way and pulled about 2 cars on him, the funny thing was that his chick kept smiling at me like she wanted to hop in my car. To this day I see him and his chick driving and she still smiles like she wants me to tke her for a REAL ride.
