Another LT1 Rookie Hey all, I need some pointers from you seasoned veterens. I'd like to start building another engine for my '94 T/A. My thoughts were a 383 with the LT4 top end, and AFR LT4 heads. Can i start off with any 350 block, or are there certain years i need to look for so everything will bolt on from my exsisting LT1??? Does this combo sound feasable?? Also, when i get the crank, are they single piece rear main or not?? Any imput is welcome

On the block, NO. Only LT1 blocks are feasable...On the rear main seal, 1 piece. If you're going 383, look for a 92-96 corvette block..It's 4 bolt main, where f-body had only 2 bolt. Hope this helps.
Yeup! I think the SS motors were also 4 bolt mains too?
I would say you are going about it wrong and the info given sofar is near worthless.
If you bother to look into what places are doing with ported stock heads you SHOULD rethink your asumption of needing different castings. If you do the LT4s get them ported but you don't need to buy them atall especially with thwe intake availablility provlems. AFRs SUCK unless you get big ones and are building an aggressive motor the smaller street targetted stuff will not perform as well as a competently ported GM LT1 casting.
On the 4 bolt by the time 4 bolt mains are genuinely an upgrade you should be considering you should be looking at an aftermarket conversion, BUT the stock 2 bolt is a hell of a lot tougher than the inexperianced want to give it credit for.
