sjm sells a kit for the abs they also sell a low mount bracket for your alt when you remove the a/c and power steering the car well be a pain to drive with out the steering unless you get a mad man manual rack

IMO, I would keep the ABS. I disconnected it for the front, and had that programmed out, but I kept the back. The car does stop faster, it does lock the front up, but the rear is less likely to come around on you. I have the LS1 Big Brakes in the front, that helps also.

Since power steering is coming out, I would do like the above mentioned and move the alternator down next to your crank pulley. Then you could run the small belt around the crank and alt only. I did the a/c delete but kept the power steering so I had to go with the 1LE pulley so my p/s pump didn't turn backwards.

I heard someone say it's not too bad if you plug the fluid holes. However, I don't really see how it would be any different. Personally, if I were you and had the money, I would buy the Madman rack. Otherwise, I would keep the p/s . I did.

is the madman rack just a different ratio? my friend has a manual box in his el camino and it's 6 turns lock to lock, easy as hell to turn though... just a pain turning into parking spots/etc due to so many revolutions of the steering wheel.

!ABS is a little work but effect on overall driveability is 0 in my opinion. I don't regret eliminating it. I bought an SJM kit to run the front lines together into the line lock and put the back on a proportioning valve. Once you get the brake bias where you like it, it's just fine. You'll have to reflare your lines but that wasn't hard for me.

96 lt1...its simple...pull the wire harness out of the abs unit...take the lines off of it, then unbolt the abs unit with the bracket leave it out...get get my lines and fittings and put them back in!!! ...or get your own lines get your own fitting flaring tool and your ends i guess (threaded screw part) cut the lines reflair them..t the front brakes together, then run it to the master cyliner...get an elbow cut the rear line shorter, run it to the master cylinder check for leaks refil and your done
