Yup. How much are you willing to spend? I have over $10K, easily enough to get both, but I am going with the Ported Heads. I am spending about $1700, vs. atleast $7,000..
Saves me money to play with something else.

well lets look at it this way i want to spend as little as possible so about
350-400 for clutch
450-550 fot lt's
right there is about 800-1000 not including labor

so i cold spend about 1500 on a stroker package
or heads ported and cam for about 1500-2000?

im thinking i like the sound of a stroker better but here is a ? it may sound dumb but what really is a stroker and what gains will i really get out of it (plus i think i sounds better to the average person when u tell them u have a 383 stroker vs ported heads and a cam)

$1500 will NOT build a 383 shortblock..I have over $7500 in mine

A 383 increases the bore of the motor .030" and increases the stroke to 3.75"
You will need to do extensive block machining/clearencing.

The 383 will also need a good head/cam package to make decent power.

Start with H/C and rebuild the bottom end later

Well, to get the good stroker, you are goin to spend about $3K-$4K, then have the Ported Heads on the top end, plus the Cam. You spend $1500 on the Stroker Rotating Assembly, you still have to get the bored Block, and all the internals. I was thinking of doin the same, but I would rather have the $$ on hand, and get the Ported Heads, then installing my LT's. I already have the Cam. It's up to you what you want to do. I just like using and keeping what is good, and building on that. No sense of spending money if you don't have to.
It doesn't matter what you tell people. If you can kick *** with it, no one is going to argue with it. Mine kills LS1's, and I still have some **** to do to it..
