underdrive pulley's worth the$???
I know some say the $60 or $80 bucks for them is a waste of money. then others swear buy them.
who's right? and who's wrong? I'm working on every possible way for 400rwhp (far fetched... perhaps. impossible... no) and didn't know if they made any gain what so ever.
ALSO, should I buy the cheap ones that has the crank pulley that goes in behind the balancer and then put the balancer on after? or an "underdrive" balancer?
I know a boy with a '97 model T/A that put the cheap ones on, and FORGOT to put the balancer back on, needless to say the timing chain broke and bent a few valves, and wore the main bearings a little weird: all with 27k miles on the clock.

i say go with the pulley. I bought mine from G2 motorsports so I don't know how the cheaper ones perform but i was fairly pleased with mine. I gained almost a tenth of a sec in my 1/8 from it. They only complaint i have is that my volts sits at about 12.5-12.7 when i am sitting at a stop light but once you give it any gas at all the volts are rigth back up to where they should be.

with my heads, a comp #501 cam (212/218) on 1.6's (.523/.528") and a 4L60E and a 3.23 gear with all the supporting intake/exhaust stuff. I made 352rwhp/371ft.lbs.
since then:
comp #503 cam, cloyes double roller (no water pump gear) CSR electric water pump, as well as a t56. I figure with less drivetrain loss with the 6spd, roller timing set, and no water pump drag, as well as the much needed breathing from the bigger cam, and a dyno tune? I may cut it close, 380rwhp is more believable, I know; but if there's just a few more things I could do to put it at the 400 mark would be great. damn, knew I shoulda done a 3-angle valve job!

id say go for it, i did but if u use your car as a daily driver u may wanna get a dual pulley kit, where u get crank and alternator pulleys. i got the march pullies the crank one only states like 15 hp and the dual pulley set is like 12 hp and its not really hard to install u just remove your belt and the 3 bolts from the hub put new pulley on then balancer and bolt up the 3 bolts u will also need a shorter belt

I like the pulleys, I noticed a quicker rev and i really helpsout when the a/c is on. A lot less drag on the engine. You can't even feel the compress kick on. It runs with the a/c on with the pullies like it did without the pullies and the a/c off. I also installed the smaller alternator pully to bring the volts back up to normal.
