Default fuel economy

Ok i want to get a camaro. My dad is pushing the 6 cylinder and im pushing the 8. His main argument is fuel economy. So my question is what is the difference between the two in fuel consumption.

The main thing, isn't the difference in fuel consumption, they are both pretty close, but the v6 takes regular and the lt1 takes premium, thats the big difference.

i think v6er's are rated at 29 in the hwy while v8's are around 25 or so. i usually got around 18 or 19 mpg with my v6's in city/hwy driving. now with my v8's i get alot less but thats because i like drivin it fast and not worry about gas mileage. i've got a 4banger gmc canyon for that.

Lets not BS our selfs... now technically the two cars are almost the same gas mileage..DRIVING NORMALLY. But having the 8 will make you drive it like an 8 right? Thus burning the gas more when you slam the pedal
If you drive the 8 like an old man yes.. v6 and v8 are not too far off from eachother.

Years ago when I had a V6 camaro I drove it like an 8. If you are worried about gas mileage and drive alot on the highway you might want to consider a manual transmission! Or possibly a 2.73 geared auto. I don't find the difference between regular and premium to be that big of a deal. 10 cents or so more per gallon doesn't concern me. As other have stated it matters more how you drive the vehicle. Also making sure the vehicle you buy is running properly and has in good condition air filter, plugs, wires, fuel filter can go a long way.

all depends on driving, i only used a 1/4 tank coming back from virginia, all highway miles and the 6th gear really doesnt use a lot of fuel, now on the other hand, i've beaten the **** out of it and gotten like 50 miles on half a tank, LT1's run rich at WOT which really gets the needle to drop as the pedal does. All in the driving

Mine does pretty good on the highway with the 3.73's, but I like playing with. I have ran through a tank in 3 days. Depends on how you drive.

a tank in 3 days thats not bad ive gone through 3 tanks in one weeks time and i only drove it 5 of the 7 days. Thats what happens when you drive around the whole state everyone once and awhile. I usually get 19 in the city and 27 on the highway.

eh as stated its in your right foot. You could easily get bad mileage in the v6 if you pound the throttle to get somewhere. Get a v8 with the six speed. Same deal with the price of premium, I usually average a tank a week, in CA its a .20 premium over regular. So thats like a extra $3-4, 4 tanks a month, yeah a extra $16, not much money. Granted I just got back and haven't driven it in 4-5 months so yeah I'm averaging a tank every 3 or 4 days hahah.
