Default How to do the AC delete mod

Are there any good writeups or walk throughs on how to delete the AC from out LT1's? I know I need to get the AC delete pully but how do you take out the compressor and everything else?
For some reason the search function is not working.

Thanks

Bleed the system with the little bleed near the Canister. Disconnect the Pressure Sensor on the AC line near the Computer, unplug the connection in back of the Compressor. Disconnect all the lines, unbolt the Compressor(3 bolts on the front, 1 in the back), remove the plastic cover above the Radiator, take out the AC Condensor. Take out the AC Canister, cut out that bracket if you want to, disconnect the 2 lines from the Firewall, and plug them. With mine, I actually removed some of the stuff from inside of the Firewall, and sealed in a piece of Aluminum to plug the hole. You computer might throw codes, mine didn't. There are 6 codes it should throw.

The compressor is cake, 3 bolts in the front, and 1 bolt in the back. People always so how hard it is, but it wasn't.

How about getting that plastic box off the firewall? Is it even possible with the engine in the car?

If you want heat, leave it in.

Yea, leave that plastic box in, and plug the part where the 2 lines go in. Look at my engine pictures on the Cardomain link, and you will see the little piece of aluminum that I put in there. It keeps the heat in.

That back bolt was a PITA. Not sure if it was just me but damn it took me forever to get it out. My hands just wouldn't fit in there right and nowhere to turn the ratchet. The other pain was getting the tubing out once removed. I recall that giving me a hard time and had to cut it.

Mine broke the mount off the back of the Compressor, Commpressor cracked at that piece of Aluminum, and the bolt wouldn't come out of the block. I was like **** it.. lol
The Tubing came out real easy with the Dremel...

It took me 5 minutes to do that bolt. If you undo that back bolt, then unbolt the compressor, the lines just pop right out.

between radiator fans? like between the motor and fans? or between the fans, bc they should be together...and it only takes 2 connectors and a tug to get them out

I just turned it sideways, a few cuss words(tough love) and it came out. I am good at wiggling big things in and out of tight places...

Is the delete pulley needed? I saw that they offered this for the 3rd gens as well, but on my 91 TA that I had I did the AC / Smog delete and just got a shorter belt and 3" idler pulley and used a different belt routing. This way I had a brand new belt, tensioner, and deleted all that stuff for $40 or so total. I'm assuming on the lt1 the water pump pulley is what would be the problem in doing that? I'd have to look.

Yes the 1LE Delete Pulley is needed, and that is not the Waterpump Pulley, it's the Power Steering Pump Pulley. The LT1 Water Pump is Gear-Driven off of the Timing Chain Sprocket on the Cam Shaft.

Ah I see now ... didn't look too closely the first time. I did the AC delete mod today as well ... just need to get the pulley. Do you still leave both fans in the car? I'm assuming the secondary fan only kicks on when the AC is working right?

Both mine are wired to run constantly, someone did it before I got it. Both do run when the car is hot, not necessarily when the AC is on.

I know that one of them is low-speed, and one is high-speed. Above 70 they are supposed to shut off, but mine run.
