Default coolant sensor

well last night i installed my new opti. when i removed the harness from the coolant sensor i noticed it was spinning ,but i stilll went ahead and installed it anyway needless to say when it was done the temp gauge didnt work.so today i went and bought a new coolant temp sensor installed and still no gauge. whats the deal?

did you buy the right part? i went and bought one and they gave me the wrong one. theres the coolant temp sensor on the water pump and then the metal temp switch on the side of the heads on the driver side between #1 and #3 cyl. the one on the driver side head has one wire that goes into it and the on on the water pump has two wires thats the one that controls your guage.......make sure you purchased the right one.....what year camaro do you have?

94 z28 i bought the one that was broke whicj is the one that goes in the water pump,

the one that is inside your head on the drivers side is the one that goes to the guage if im correct and the one on the water pump goes to the computer
