Default MSD Blaster Coil?

http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...bacf9fd1a95b8e

I am thinking about ordering that for the sake of just replaceing the stock peice. I was wondering what it would do for performance, and if it would change the possiblity of me running 89 in the summmer, not that I usualy run 89, but I like the opertunity to. Would I have to re-tune for this? And is it a good bang for hte buck?

i put one on, i noticed very little but a bit of performance gain, it seems like its burning hotter because of the more spark its a decent cheap mod but if you dont really need it then dont do it till your stocker goes, its not necessary

Why dont you just run higher octaine? 93 isnt going to hurt a stock motor, i ran that on my stock longblock for 2 years no prob. Unless your car is tuned for lower octane i wouldnt be running it.

changing the coil won't allow you to run worse gas.

Get a tune and lower timing if you want to do that.

Well have them tune it to or around an octane rating. Texas has great fuel. You should be good.

I wasn't hopeing for this to allow me to run 89, I always use 93, but I was wondering of changing the coil, would LIMIT me to 93.

Why would it? Its just a hotter spark. Like a guy up said, dont do it unless yours is crapped out. Spend the money on go fast.

I just wanna do it when I do my full msd opti, and fresh plug wires, wondering if itw as the 'best' coil out there, I learned that its no better than stock, but no negitives right?

There's no connection between the coil and octane. I'm not sure why you think there is.

A hotter coil will always help the fuel burn more completely and leave you with cleaner combustion chambers and pistons/valves. I've put a hotter coil on pretty much every GM vehicle I've had and I could tell the difference on most of them. Heck, I put the MSD coil and wires on my old jetboat that had a Yamaha 650 engine in it. I've never seen a 2 stroke look so clean when I did a head swap on that motor. Don't expect to pick up much power, but it will most likely help with keeping it cleaner which in the end will give better mpg and keep the engine running smoother. I've used the Hypertech coils with great luck on several applications. But MSD is the only one that makes a coil for the 96/97 LT1.

Right, but it does not reduce the octane requirement one bit. Coil mods are a great idea, but not for the purposes stated in this thread.

THAT WASNT THE ******* PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD guys, I mearly mentioned it at the beginning of the thread, as I thought, a hotter spark MIGHT change the fuel REQUIRED, one person said it doesn't, someone agreed, I learned, No need to keep going on and on and on about it.
