Well my buddies 99 TA(CAI,exhaust,pro 5.0) is still walking me decently once we hit third gear. I am getting the LT's and 3" true duals put on in the next week. And I hear that full exhaust and geared LT1's should win..Does my friend have too many mods for me to take him? He pulls hard once we hit third like I said. Will the full exhaust fill the gap??

 

Well, you might wanna grab an intake since you have the exhaust.. would help. Logically between the two cars, you're trying to fill at 40-50hp gap stock, and 100or so less lbs. And since the LS1 seems to take better to mods, you can kinda add a few extra hp there too. But honestly, it doesn't matter much, because once you put that cam in he is going to wonder where you went.

 

I do have intake just forgot to add it.

 

LT's may net you 15hp at best. He will most likely still win just not as bad!

 

how much is he pulling you in 3rd gear? If more then 5 cars he will probably still beat you if not you should win

 

at what mph is he walking you?

 

All those Mods, and he is still walking you with just a CAI on a M6 T/A?
You also say you have FIPK, and a K&N Intake... aren't they the same thing?

Your Stall, gears and exhaust should have your Z running low 13's. If it isnt, something is wrong or you need a tune.

sounds about right to me for a m6 ls1.

 

Eh I forgot I had FIPK in the sig because the other guy didnt see it, yes its the same thing. I realize my chances should be better from the dig with the stall but I have no suspension now and bald tires..and the credit of my low 13 sec car comes from the stall. It really doesn't do much from a roll, it just seems like its my 3.73's vs his 3.42's and 60rwhp more..He really doesn't walk me as bad as you may think..from a 30 roll he'll slowly pass around 60ish I guess then by 100 he might have 2-2.5 cars..I'd just be happy if my LT's close the gap, not necessarily beat him. I hear on the forums all the times how full exhaust LT1's should be able to take stockish LS1's, it's basically been a rule of thumb for a lot of people on here. But I don't see it happening.

I'll keep you guys updated as my mods progress.

 

Are you sure that's all he has done to his car? b/c I just raced an LS1 the other day and I beat it twice by about a car length from 55mph rolls.

 

When going from a roll are you just leaving it in Overdrive or are you dropping it down to second?

 

OD, I already blew my tranny once by dropping to 2.

 

I do D which is OD in a Camaro.

 

I raced a LS1 TA A4 with lid/catback from a 30 roll and I took him by about a car length maybe a little more. I dropped it down into 2nd and we raced to 85mph.

 

He'll still beat you.

 

you should be walkin all over him right out of the gate... especially with your 3400 stall. Cant believe he is still catching and taking you once 3rd hits. Seems odd to me.

The stall doesnt do anything from a roll though and the only thing that helps propel me is the gears..

 

I thought you said after 3rd gear he pulls? So I assumed this is from a stop. My bad... if its from a roll, you are right, the stall wont do a damn thing. And the gears wont do that much probably.

 

My strongest point should be from a stop but it actually stalls to about 3600 and I have nochance of hooking up, so right now I cant beat him there either.
