Default Pacesetter Vs. Hooker Headers

Guys Im looking into headers and I have some questions. Between Pacesetter and Hooker (both LTs) what would you choose? What are the pros and cons of each? Are there any better choices for around the same price?
Thanks

Why would they leak if I used good gaskets? I think, if they leaked, with proper hardware, that much they wouldnt be that popular.

I only have experiance with hooker. No complaints here, everything fine. Plus Hooker has been around for a long time.

Of the two I would use Pacesetters again. The install seemed to be easier compared to the hookers, and the flanges are thicker on the Pacesetters. Also i wouldn't say the price difference would be worth it to get the hookers.

Pacesetters. I have them, no problems whatsoever. Get Felpro gaskets & throw away the gaskets that come with the pacesetters. My Y-pipe also fits perfect... no banging here. Best bang for the buck period.

Got mine at www.byunspeed.com. Little slow on shipping, but I couldn't find a better price.

The Hooker's are a true 1-3/4" tube while the Pacesetters are a 1-3/4" tube but only 1-5/8" at the flange. I'm not sure if that really costs any amount of power but if so it would be minimal. But that does make it easier to tighten the bolts on the Pacesetters. The Pacesetters tuck up tighter to the floor so more ground clearance but then that can lead to y-pipe problems like mentioned. But the y-pipe hitting is really more of a sign of worn motor mounts. I think it's a 50/50 toss up but the Pacesetter's seem to be a little less expensive so I went with them.

Depends if you are lowered. I am going with the Pace Setters cause I will scrape the Hookers.

i have pacesetters now with minimal complaints. but the complaints i do have are, the y-pipe hits the floors, i dont like how the y-pipe slips over the collectors, and i was going through header gaskets like mad. whichever headers you do get, make sure you get percey's dead soft aluminum gaskets, and a set of locking header bolts. you will save yourself alot of headaches. If i were to do it over again, i would probably opt for the hookers. and btw the pacesetters are a "true" 1 3/4" header at least mine are...maybe they changed them again since i bought mine.

It seems only logical that you guys that are complaining about banging just have old worn or saggy motor mounts. I will be going with the Pacesetters.

Jet-Hot is better than Hooker and Pacesetter. Higher weld quality, plus sterling coating is superior to ceramic. The downside would be that they hang about as low as Hookers.

Try measuring your Pacesetter headers right where the tubes come out of the flange at the head, they are 1-5/8 and then expand to 1-3/4". If you can see they are "stepped" then they are the same ones I have. I still don't think they would make much of a power difference on a car under 500 hp. As for the slip fit y-pipe, that is a much superior fit to the 3 bolt flange style, you just want to use stainless band clamps, not the clamps Pacesetter gives you.

My Pacesetters knock a little bit at WOT, but then again I'm not sure if it's the headers or custome y-pipe. Other than that I have no complaints... nor leaks with Felpro gaskets. Pacesetters are great cheap headers. Just be sure to get coated.

Definately get the coated ones, I cooked the paint off my Pace Setter Shorties in the first 2 minutes of running it. The shorties was the first mistake, LT's going in when I get home...

I have a set of LT Hookers uncoated brand new never ran or installed I would cut you a deal on. If you go with Hookers, if not I can use them with my project.
