IAT relocate

when relocating the iat does it have to stay in the intake air flow or can it just be in the air? I don't really want to drill in my k&n elbow I ran mine behind the headlamp it seems to be running to rich. I installed it and the K&n at the same time and it has slow down 8.50s to 8.70s it has set a ghost egr code a couple of times, but you can clear it and it may take a month to come back on. I am kind of wondering about my o2s if they are getting lazy they look ok on my scanner

I IAT sensor should be in the intake air flow. I put mine in the end of my K&N filter, works great.

i would drill it and put it in the air intake. Thats were its suposed to be.

Moved IAT to the elbow and went back to my 8.50's actually I went 8.46 and a 47. I even won our local 8.50 heads up class.
