M6 on 4:10s/Moser 12b, perfect gearing with 28x13.50s, plenty of 4th gear left @1/4 mark. When I'd run the ZR1s I was about 2 cars from the 1/4 mark looking to get out of 4th (didn't of course) but FYI if your running 26" tires or so.

We recently had 4.10's installed in our car, and it was too much. The gears were too short for our taste, and with the SLP LM on the car it was a bit obnoxious at speed on the highway. Swapped in the strange w/3.73's and couldn't be happier.

3LITER6 is right about the AFR in your tune. If it is off one way or the other gas will go down and so will performance. I would go 3.42. 3.73 are awsome thou and with your setup you would love them!

well i've really wanted to do the 3.73's but was worried gas mileage would be horrilbe like 13 city and 15 highway or something. I had g-force do my tune and they leaned it out as far as a daily driver could safely go. i was just referring to my afr gauge that is usually reading no higher than stoich. i said it wrong in my original post. maybe i'll look into gears sooner than I had originally thought. just need to decide between 3.42 or 3.73

I bought the car to go fast and raise hell. Im not worried about gas. If i want good gas milage i would buy a 4 banger. I just happen to get the best of both worlds.

OK so a taller tire should be used with the 4.10s at the strip then? I can't seem to do the stupid conversion, how many millimeters are in a inch?

I'm the friend who makes 25mpg (actually 26mpg @ 75 mph) on the highway.

A lot of gas mileage stuff has to do with how good of a state of tune-up the car is in.

I average 15/16 in town driving with my stall, that's JUST in town driving. I recently noticed it taking a slight downturn to around 13/14, with no real change in driving habits. I took my MAF out due to curiosity, and cleaned it, now my mpg is back up to a steady 16mpg in town.

Small things like plugs, sensors, and even dirty air filters can make a mileage difference.

Go with 3.73's, you can't beat 'em. Get a stall first though, if you don't already have one. Makes a bigger difference.

Back to the original debate... 4.10's in a M6 kicks ***. It almost makes Eric's car feel like mine when the stall kicks in.
