Default Slipping Clutch???

When I take first gear up to about 6500rpm the clutch holds perfectly. However, in second gear and every gear afterwards it seems like it hesitates above 5 grand and above and gets worse in each additional gear. I just replaced the opti and i have new plugs and wires so i know its not that. I know 370 rwhp is prob too much for a stock clutch but i was just wondering if any of you guys had a similar problem. THanks again.

how many miles on ur car?
my clutch literally wore out out to nothing.....it got so bad when i took it to the shop i pulled in and the guy asked me to bring it to his other shop down the street so i tried to pull out and was just grinding nothing at about 5000rpm and 5 miles an hour for a block, it was a 3 min travel that should have taken about 30 seconds.

anyways it doesnt sound so bad that u need to replace now but i would look to get one sooner than later

the easiest way to figure out if your clutch is starting to slip really bad and need to replace it is put it in 6th and get on it, if your engine rpm's climb much faster then your speed then yeah your prolly need a new clutch, ive done one, on jackstands, did it in a few hrs, its not that bad, just take your time

at 93k and a couple clutch dumps even at 2k itll tear that clutch up, i dumped it 3 times and i could tell my clutch was slipping like i said put it in 6th after your rolling and feed it some throttle and if your rev's climb much faster then your speed, theres your problem, you need a new clutch

for one you are not in the power band of the LT1 at 6500, LT1's STOCK quit makin power at 5500 and you'd be better shiftin back into the power band, if your on the stock pump you might be pretty leaned out at 6500 as well

actually at 61k plus your stock fuel pump kinda goes to pot, i know when i put in the new granatelli pump for mine, even with out a cam, it started pulling much much better past about 35k so it still could be a fuel issue...

I'd say go with a GM LS6 or LS7 clutch. Many guys on here have used them, and I don't think I've heard one bad thing about either. They retain the stock pedal feel and engagement, but hold much more power than the LS1 clutch. And since they are factory GM clutches, they should last much longer than any aftermarket unit.

I think that's your best bet.
