Yes it would fit, you would have alot of work to do. But yes it would fit Bolt up very easy. Just getting everything to work and run is the expensive (not hard) part.

you will need

K-member including mounts, harness & pcm, f-bod LS1 oil pan, f-bod or aftermarket cable TB, upgraded fuel tank, internal pump, etc.. to 98+.. Just to get you started..

Money much better spent on an exteme LT1 IMHO.

But it'd be a fun project, there are custom cars running around
with LSx, BBC and pre-87 SBC setups. Imagine the wheel/bumper stand you
could do with an 1800HP BBC protruding from the hood.

I contemplated the same. I could probably have gone LS1 in my 94Z for about the same amount of money as my 383 cost (considering I have a ton of stock parts from my 98 laying around).

Fitting the motor is the easy part. Getting it to run wouldn't be too bad. But there's nagging little stuff, like fuel system changes, electrical changes (the LS1 PCM won't talk to the 94 dash module), making sure all the gauges work, etc. I said screw it. I don't want to deal with it. Yes, there are guys who have done it. That's why this board has a Conversions and Hybrids forum. Plenty of posts in there. But retrofits take a lot of work. Was just too easy to get a 383 shortblock, bolt on the parts, and everything just works like it should. Cleanly.

You would need at least a LS1 T56 face plate, bellhousing, input shaft, and clutch hydraulics (along with the clutch of course). The rest of your T56 could be moved over. Might just be easier to sell yours and buy an LS1 unit tho.
