Default New LT1 owner

I just purchased a 1994 white A4 Z28 yesterday! This is my 2nd f-body, but the 1st LT1 car that I've owned. It already has a Flowmaster 80 series cat-back (soon to be removed or a cutout installed), Moroso CAI, 1LE intake elbow, brand new opti and water pump, and 160* thermostat. It has around 145,000 miles on it, so I plan to do a rebuild/build up (383 or 396) in the future along with the go-go juice in a year or two.

Also, I have a few dollars to play around with, so was just wondering if you thought these mods would be wise, and if yall had any other suggestions:
Cutout, Berger panel, tinted windows, de-badged and possibly old-school badging, Hood and SS spoiler (future), tune, Longtubes with catted y-pipe (emissions area), shift kit, 3000 stall speed torque converter, eibach springs and bilstein shocks, upgraded stereo, cam, ported heads or new ones, etc...

Thanks.

Gears. If it doesnt already have any. If they are factory you will have either 2.73s or 3.23s . Look in your glove box for the codes.. GU2=2.73s and GU5=3.23's. I just put 4.10s in mine and wow...night and day. If running around 2,600 to 2,800 rpms at 70 concerns you, slip some 3.73's in it. Either way I think gears is a must in almost any car. Congrats on a nice car and good luck.

Cutout -
Nice for the track, close it up an have the car quiet on the street

Berger panel, tinted windows, de-badged and possibly old-school badging, Hood and SS spoiler (future)
Will look really good, dont forget some nice wheels.

tune, Longtubes with catted y-pipe (emissions area), shift kit, 3000 stall speed torque converter, eibach springs and bilstein shocks, upgraded stereo, cam, ported heads or new ones, etc...
Keep in mind that on a car with LTs the Y is going to be low, you can drop a car with LTs but if you daily drive it, speed bumps arent your friends. Plenty of h/c set ups that can pass smog. On a stroker its even easier, dont tear in to the motor untill your ready to rebuild, Your on the right track man, good luck!

It is a GU5 car. I am wanting to look into 3.73s or 4.10s later on down the road.

Yea, I am either wanting to go that route or just dump money into a set of true duals.

Yes! The salad shooters definately have to go!

This is all very true. And I still haven't made up my mind on what C.I. to go with. But that is all a few years away.

I plan on going with a 3000 or higher in the future... but it will need to be rebuilt eventually, and I can't decide if the 4L80E upgrade would be worth it.

Don't even bother messing with an LT1. They are out of date, they suck to work on, and they have no power.

Cool, I've got a 94 Z A4 w/ 3.23s myself (although mine is "Patriot Red") over near Stone Mountain, nice to see more local Fbody owners around.

I'd snag some headers and a mailorder tune from someone like MadZ28 next if I were you. I went w/ ceramic coated Edelbrock headers just because I found them cheap used online, that and the tune made a pretty big difference for my car. I went w/ MadZ28's email tuning package since I have a laptop and a OBD-1 cable to hook up to the car, pretty sweet deal for $65 or whatever it's running these days.

Yep. They're crap, and have absolutely no potential. The LS1 guys said it, so it must be true.

Get used to it, then mod your ride, and get used to laying the smackdown on **** talkers

Look for long tubes/y-pipe, a torque converter and gears. Get those along with some LCAs and good tires and run mid-high 12s consistantly

I'm running low 13s with just long tubes/y-pipe/catback and a cai on some shitty nittos. If I hit some really good short times with my LCAs/LCARBs and some new tires a 13.0x pass should be attainable. With some powershifting I should be able to hit a 12. If not I could tune it and hit one for sure. These cars have plenty of potential, you just have to mod them right!

When you're ready for more $1300 with Lloyd Elliot and he'll fix you up with a 375 rwhp heads/cam package!

I really do want a TC and gears, also need to change up the exhaust. But before I get into the motor I'm going to rebuild it and stroke it out. May as well do that first.

That's long term. And the list is much longer than that.
