raer mount will have more lag. heat is a big factor with boost so the amount the exhaust cools off will affect that. but you could help by wrapping the exhaust to keep the heat in. but then you have to consider that front mount usually cost more bc of custom headers-and having to remove ac, etc. each one have there plus-minus. rear mount setups are easier to build yourself as long as you have a welder and some mandrel bent piping

If you would research engineering forums concerning turbo efficiency, you could answer your own question. Exhaust contains 2 types of energy: volume of gases, and heat. Both types of energy can be used by a turbine. Since the exhaust pipe of a rear mount will always dissipate heat, part of the useful energy will be lost. This makes a front mount more efficient, 100% of the time. More efficiency=more power per pulse.
However, I find your question somewhat simplistic, in that it ignores several key factors. They include, but are not limited to, things like:
How crowded is your engine compartment
How much heat can you endure under the hood
How willing are you to install custom exhaust manifolds
How willing are you to install the extra piping required by a rear mount
Where are you willing to locate the air filter
Are you going to use an intercooler(s)
What pressure can your engine withstand without becoming a grenade
Lag can be engineered out, and has been done so by STS. This is a myth. My 84 Daytona had lag. My STS does not. Other considerations, such as how to run important lines, such as oil and electrical, should also be taken into consideration.
Please understand, this is not intended as a flame. Rather, it is a physics/engineering-based response as to why owners should base their decisions for the location of their turbo. What you choose is up to you. The front mount, just due to physics, will always be more efficient. However, the rear mounts offer several advantages to those who do not require the ultimate efficiency from their turbo.

Rear mounts are only good because they are out in the open and u don't have to worry about under hood temperatures. However i hear they lag like a **** compared to front mounts.

FRONT FRONT FRONT. If you can at all help it/afford it go front mounted setup.
It is proven in real life test that a front will make more power.
But at the same time for a quality turbo setup for a good price, it is hard to beat that rear mounted setup. Im out to change that though...

Theyve had great debates in the FI section about this. Ive seen some get locked because they got so heated. I say both make power and I wouldnt count the rear out though it's not a setup I would go with.
