Default question about timing marks on a lt1

im puting a cam in and i lost my book somewhere,, can someone confirm that the notches on the sprackets should line up to each other, meaning top and 6 oclock and bottom at 12..i just wanna make sure, i know couple diff cars have both of them at 12 , meaning both points on top,, but im pretty sure lt1's are notch to notch,, please let me know asap..

Aligning the dot on the cam sprocket at 6 o'clock and the crank sprocket at 12 o'clock will get you where you want to be. Be advised that the #6 piston will be at TDC at that point. Rotating the crank 360 degrees so that both marks are at 12 o'clock will bring the engine to TDC on #1.
