its a very nice cam with 1.5's!!!! very very streetable. honestly the hotcam is a piece....too tiny. when I buy a cam I want to hear it...the 847 does that. with 1.5's, I dont see why it cant be a good DD.

heck I'm getting 4mpg on my current setup..do I care? no....its a blast to drive. have fun.

Any track times or hp numbers on that setup, sounds like its a nasty LT1.

Food for thought...

My xe 224/230 car trapped 111 mph in the 1/4 with a 1.9 60'. I still need to get better times out of it. The cam is driveable as hell, no low-end power loss with Combination Motorsports Stage II heads, hooker LT's, and other bolt-ons.

With more track time I'm hoping to see 112-115 mph out of it, hopefully trapping between 12.2-12.4.

...and yes, I have a Cam Motion equivalent of the 847 sitting in my closet, just in case

I had a 227/233 111lsa lift was like .560/.569(with 1.6's i think) it was from combination motorsports it's a comp grind cam. It worked great in my 97 car M6 stock gears the car had a great(sounding) idle but lost no drivability what so ever, I mean in surged a few times on me if I was in a parking lot at just the right RPM and throttle but letting off or giving it a little more gas and it stopped. I didn't notice any loss in highway MPG(though I never kept track of it closely) car pulled hard/smoothly from off idle to the 6600 limiter. with with a noticable amount of power coming in around 3200 and staying till 6600. I did have my computer tuned(madZ28 mail order) but I could only imagine how it would run with a dyno tune. My car never had any cold start problems, it could be below freezing in the morning just hit key turn on defroster and walk off(it snowed one day when I was at work that was a interesting drive home). I think this cam could easily be a good DD cam for someones first cammed car. And as soon as you start it up everybody can tell it cammed(sounded wicked when I had the LT's ORY cutout on it)Unlike my MS4 in my new car I can handle that as a DD but would not reccomend it if the person had never owned/rode in a med to big cam car.

CC306 and ported heads here. I'm revving to 6700 on stock bottom end, seems to work pretty good on just a basic H/C tune. Ported heads were a HUGE improvement from 4k+, and especially noticeable was the way the thing just keeps on pulling and pulling past 6 grand.

I've been daily driving my CC306 for like 7k miles, only once or twice has the surge and nauseating exhaust gotten annoying sitting in 2 hrs of stop n go. Otherwise it kicks ***! specs in case you don't know...

230/244 .544/.576 on a 112 lsa with 1.6s

pulling about 22-23 mpg on the freeway, in the city... man lol like 13-15 depending... gotta love the M6

I dont really see the reason in the 847 in a DD. The 305,503, and alot of custom ground cams and produce great numbers and be better for the gas pump. You have to spin the 847 to 6200 or more to get all of it's power and the stock heads are going to be your down fall. They done flow up there worth a ****. I'm going TEA stage 2's with a custom ground matching cam, do it once and do it right. I'm shooting for 400+ H/C LT1. With alittle Ed Wright Magic.....

That package should get you around the 400 mark. I talked to several people over there and they recommended to keep the 847 cam i have and just add there heads. The cam that they select is around the size of the CC306 so they told me i was better off leaving my cam in.

A fellow LT1 owner on this site has put down 400hp/415tq with the 847 through a 6-speed and 12 bolt.

I like my 503. with the LE2 heads on a 355 in a 4400 lb pig with the accompanying boltons I am running low 12's. Great idle. Good sound and a great DD. With the same setup in a lighter Camaro 11's easy.

thanks!
do some searching on this cam, it's awesome out of the box and apples and oranges compared to a baby hotcam. Although I used it years ago I'd recommend a custom grind for you're app.

i would rather have the 847 in a 383.

in a 350-355, i'd use a 224/230 or maybe comps 230/236 max. really like the idea of combinations 227/233 on a 112lsa
