Default anybody ever?

made a ram air to a lt1 cai? is it possible...i hear some of the ls1 guys makin ram air ducts from the front scoops(grille), to their lid, and picking up 1-3 tenths and 1-3mph!!! thats amasing/...
im trying to picture somethin up...something like a true ram air...not just a help air get to the filter, ram air because cutting the plastic under the drivers fender and making a a scoop isnt really a ram air...

ram air has no different effect then a cai really. i highly doubt you will pick up that much from it. cai is fine, and has been proven to be better then the ram air on the lt1 ... each system does the same thing ... provides a cool source of air outside the engine bay.

did you look at my link...guy here on the bords says hes proven it...along with others...fact is a ram air trans am and ram air camaro arent true ram airs...they route cold air to the intake yea...but this is on a larger scale...2 4ich ducts...

also
ive had alot of ideas lately and i think been reading to much on here...but anyone ever removed pvc off their lt1? howd you do it? do they cause oil in the intakes as bad as ls1?
and after removing the charcoal canister how did yall vent it?
any ides welcome

I dont believe in most ram air kits for street cars. I dont think the benifits kick in during everyday use. I would think you would have to be going over 100mph+ for it to even kinda work on a street car. If the sole reason for having it is to keep the cai supplied with cold air then it's kinda pointless. I say that because the only time that would apply would be when the car is at a standstill but even then a ram air could do nothing. I'm willing to bet the difference between intake temps when the car is moving and a car with ram air would be the same give or take which is why I say either way it would be pointless.

ok whats the point of that really? the cai sits outside the engine bay already and sucks cold air into the intake. the ls1 uses a lid that gets air from under the car, then to the lid ... the argument with the ls1 is that the air passes through the radiator heating it up before getting to the lid ... with that setup the air never see hot temps ... in theory.

i agree lol ... its a good idea and might net you .5 hp if it works at all ... but not .3 off an e/t. .3 from temp changes would have to be pretty dramatic atleast 15-20 if not more, and its the same air just more of it, doesnt mean more air equals cooler air. plus more air would change air/fuel ratio and could cause you to run leaner.

well it has to work if you can get big enough air ducts to do it...and make that air where it has nowhere to leak and has to go through the filter in to the intake...anywhere over 30 mph...your motor doesnt have to work to suck air in, therefore it doesnt gain any horsepower just keeps it from having to suck air...
even if it doesnt work will 80 mph thats still the last 1/8 mile at the track that would be helped out..

the guy in hot rod made that twin setup in the fog light holes on his z, and claimed he dropped like .2 or .3, but that was a solid roller drag car. for a street car the ram air would not do that much, but should make a little difference over stock. the extra grunt probably wouldnt kick in until half track when the revs are higher, anyway.
