Cold... air... intake... just a simple lil tubing aparatus that you slap on ur car to get cooler and more free flowing air... yep.. thats it
C = Cold
A = Air
I = Intake

There are times to be a dick, and times to be serious. Not everyone knows these things.
_________

The stock air intake is restrictive and the location of the airfilter is high and not designed for maximum induction. The stock intake is usually smaller, with a box of some sort around the air filter.
Plain and simple, the stock intake and elbow on the LT1 are **** poor. They actually choke the motor.
A tenth is about equal to a car length, thats means you car just got 2 or 3 lengths faster. It helps the motor breathe more smoothly, allowing better MPG too.
Its a must have mod.

Colder air + more flow + denser charge= more Hp.

Not only are Cold Air intakes, for example... My Moroso... much bigger then the stock intake, they are designed for maximum flow, and the air filter is open and in a better spot to pick up colder air. Not only that, the Air Filters they come with are also better, but have just as much filtration, they just allow more air.

A nice CAI will usally net you around 8-12 hp, give or take.
Its a great mod and you will notice a difference if you know your car well, and it even changed my exhaust note some.

Some people have knocked a .2-.3 tenths off thier quarter mile by just putting on a nice intake.

he is 100% right. Get a 65 dollar K&N Filter, put it in, and you have a CAI.

Not really. The ram air doesn't help much at all over a stock intake.

An aftermarket intake is an improvement over the stock ram air.

How do you figure. It is less piping and a strait shot to the Air. Also it is on the top of the car and doesnt have to worry about water in his air filter. Trust me. It is a great improvment. I have also done the fernco rubber piece which basically is a smooth below.

Incorrect.

The Moroso and K&N FIPK Dynoed the same, sometimes more than Ram Air.
In the SS camaros, the scoop is halfway up the hood, the air has to bend around.
It doesnt matter if youre sitting still, or going down the road,
An aftermarket CAI will give you more HP than Ram Air. Period.

A. Wasnt being a dick, just how I type.
B. I agree with you about the SS, hell if anything sitting right on top of the intake manifold it would just make the air worse by heating it up
C. THE WS.6 is a great improvement over the SS and most CAI setups, Im sure theres ram air scoops for the bottom or somthing but IMHO I think the WS.6 is superior to CAI and SS hood

transam_089 -
A. Get smooth bellows for your car I assume you have a WS.6 since your name is trans am haha!
B. also get K&N and keep it cleaned up well, BEST intake mod ever.... just keep it clean
C. DESTROY THE STREETS!!!!!!

WS6 is a performance package for the Firebird. Suspension, and some other things.
You can have WS6 without Ram Air, and Ram Air without WS6.

Whether you are sitting still, or moving, it doesnt matter.

They are very close, but aftermarket edges out a little better.
