Changing cap and rotor. Im doing plugs and wires on my 95 going with msd 8.5 and i want to get there cap and rotor. Are there any tutorials, how to's, or can someone give me advice for changing the cap and rotor on the opti.

Once you get the opti out you will need to take it to your local Sears Hardware and buy a reverse torx socket that fits the screws holding it together. Take your opti with you so you can try the socket and make sure you get the right one. Once you have it apart it's a pretty simple swap. When you put it back together, I always run a small bead of silicone with the gasket to keep extra water out.

i heard this can be done from the bottom, without removing anything...
looking up from top its a ******* mess, cant even see opti
jack it up and underneath opti, wires and plugs are all there thats what I saw when I was down there

It would be a much better idea to change the whole distributor, because just recently I bought a cap and rotor and began taking the old cap off the car with the reverse torx and i ended up breaking the corroded screws that hold the cap to the distributor off so i had to go ahead and buy a new distributor.

True but it won't come off unless you remove the waterpump and the balancer. I've tried every way NOT to do these things but can't.
