CAI options
im torn between the Moroso or SLP. i would like to get the SLP for niceness and no plastic box looking thing, but the metal tubing attracts heat which in turn would cancel out the cold air part. or the Moroso cai since its plastic and wont attract the heat, and its a little cheaper.
what gains would i get from either one also?

I just went through the same choice. I went Moroso. I was very pleased. I can tell a difference. I went with the Moroso for the reasons that it was cheaper and I liked that it was plastic. I dont think that on a dyno you would see much difference between either one. Im not saying that the SLP piece isnt worth the money, but Im not sure that having two pipes and two filters to clean makes it any better. Either way you should be pleased.

I have heard the SLP was pretty tough to install. Something about it being a smidge bigger than it should. But both will give you similar gains.
edit: forgot to add I went with the Moroso. It fit very well.

well, I had all the mods in my sig before it. The CAI was my most recent mod, so I was probably really needing the extra air. But mostly it just seems to have more responce, and when I nail it, it justs acts like its gonna suck up all the air. I mean I can even hear it when its idleing. Before the cold air, when my car barked second it was a quick chirp, now its a very very hard squeel. Im sure all the CAIs available are just as good. But bottom, line, good price. Good product.

I have the SLP. I love it. I thought the install was a breeze. After I put it on I could hear it sucking air when I romp on it. Plus it looks cool as well. By no means am I saying your not mechanically inclined, but for someone who isnt I could see where the install would be challenging.

Bingo
I bought the car with a K&N Air Filter in it, and the $5 went to the hose clamps and a piece of extra ducting from the junk yard. The rest was done with the Dremel, and some extra parts I had laying around. Where I have it located, it takes incoming outside air only, no engine compartment at all.
Like I said, I designed my version, and it works very, very well.

The SLP is a little tight around the front port on the ABS modulator, but it doesn't rub or anything. All of these CAI's are more or less equal.
Some people say the LS1 lid on an LT1 is better than a CAI, but I've yet to see any apples-to-apples data. Wedging an LS1 lid under an LT1 hood can't be easy, so I'd want to see numbers before doing something that drastic.
