are you refering to mine?

my ball joints and lower A arm joints need replacing..

struts and shocks are new

FPS needed replacing due to hard starting.

rear end pinion bearings/pinion spacer shim/carrier bearings needed replacement, and i had some 4.10's thrown in there.

clutch hydraulics

and the oil pan is leaking a little.

not much is going out right now so im taking this opprotunity to mod it before she gets her PMS again

I sold my LT1 A4 95 TA at 170K miles. It ran great and used no oil, but hot idle pressure was a needle thickness under 20psi. Is this normal for an LT1?

LMAO, the owner ran Castroil 20-50 GTX before me. I cant stand Castroil, pure crap. I put in some Shell Rotella 15-40 and drained it 4 times at 3-500 mile intervals. Until about the 3rd oil drain the filter would plop out pudding type back jellied oil when shaken. The rotella cleaned the **** out of it, but the pickup tube very well coulda had an obstruction, however, when I nailed it, the pressure came up to 60ish very promptly.

same here.. my car was de carbonized, seafoamed, and re seafoamed before i bought it.

i run 20W50 high mileage Valvoline. because of the heat and it being a daily driver it needs to be thick. plus i run some lucas oil stabilizer.

the pick up tube or screen may have some metal shavings on/in it from the earlier live of the engine. that happened with my dad's 89 4.3 V6. i had to take the whole oil delivery system out of the block because there were metal shavings, hairs (wtf?!) and chunks of dried something.

lucas oil treatment? you know that introduces air real bad into the oil? it may "climb" just like it should, but air is bad. Thought you might wanna know. Don't believe me? thats fine with me, just trying to help. But check out bobistheoilguy.com.

Levman74: There aren't a ton of wear iteams,(altho I'm a caprice driver, so everything but engine/auto are NOT the same) and most of them will be the expected kind, water pump, distributor(but those 2 are much stronger than GEN I ones), fuel pump, ya know? Just tune it up with plugs, wires,(the 96 coil wil likely be just fine) new fluids, fuel filter, front O2's(2nd set don't really do anything to concern drivability), TB gasket, Clean the TB, Clean the MAF(Does wonders), and so on. And if your serious about taking care of the engine, an autorx treatment will bump the compression back to "right after break in".

The previous owner of my cadillac didn't take great care of it, and I had that Jelly crap all over the inside of the valve covers.

Hope you enjoy it!

i donno if that would drop the pressure, but the "oxidized" oil doesn't protect as well as straight oil. I saw this test where a guy had 2 clear boxes side by side. one was mobil 1, the other the same brand/weight with lucas at the proper rate. there were blender beater deals in it, and he turned the first one on for 10 seconds, then the 2nd one. the first one had a few air bubbles, but the lucas one had changed color, and it looked like there was more oil. it had turned whiteish, and due to the air in it, it looked like more. I would think that could drop pressure, as air compresses where oil does not.

last time I checked mine with a mechanical gauge with a 1.5% span accuracy it was about 16-18 psi (m1 0w40 with some miles on it) hot idle, and close to 50lbs at 4000rpm (didnt want to **** the neighbors off that day with a rev to 6000rpm in the driveway)

Im sure my hot idle is a lot hotter than most of yours because of the lack of oil cooler. My autometer electric gauge is a lying POS. Not sure if it's the gauge or what. Wiring is good it's been through two senders>

I originally thought I was going to have to replace my oil pump or even do a rebuild cause at hot idle it said I had 6.5psi. WOT was around 40psi. LYING SOB GAUGE

164K on my cars clock

The stock Lt1 oil pressure gauge is known to be way off, Put a mechanical one in their and you will 9 times out of 10 see a diffrence.
