The L98 does the same to the LT1 I believe.

I say the big, huge, gigantic, enormus difference is in the heads...... picture it like this and average athlete vs. a career athlete running a mile. who is going to run it more efficently. Now i have seen a 97 6 speed with no mods take out an auto LS1 with bolt ons but that is because of 6 speed vs. auto advantage. Now i have me a 95 Trans Am 6 seed with all the bolt ons from gears to engine and i have raced a cam only, auto/ 2800 stall LS1 with no LT headers, only cat back exhaust and 3.73's vs my 4.10's and i barely get a nose out of him. I am hoping after a little dyno tune and some smaller wheels instead of 19's i well beat him by a little more. But all i have to say is GM finally did the traditional push rod engine right... just be happy that the LS1 is in the GM family and not on the Ford side.

I have built some cam only cars and have seen close to 400 RWHP. which is about 430, 450 or more FWHP...depending on 6 speed or auto.

Yes the LS1 peaks more Tq, but it needs to be revved.
The LT1 has 325 Tq ( give or take) @ 2400 ( around there ).

So thats why it feels snappy. And its one of the things I love about my LT1. Effortless power.

Please tell me AT WHAT POINT the LT1 has more tq than the LS1? I used to own an LT1 and rode in a friends LS1...wow...sorry, not happening. (I am sorry the LS1 graph is from hypertech, but the #'s for stock look accurate to me)

The real reason the LS1 is faster.
The LS1 body style is more...Uhh slippery. FlAmE suit on.

The real LS1 advantages lie with the heads, intake and distributer-less ignition. Bigger flow makes bigger HP especially at higher RPM.

You need an Upgrade on your Butt-o-meter.

( j/k stanger you know its all good. )

Actually before I bought my 95, I test drove a 98 with my then Gf. She thought the LT1 had more ***** because it has kind of a low end grunt to it.

Anyone who owns both will tell you the same.

I have a dyno graph of an LT1 puttin down 290, give or take,
I have a dyno graph of an LS1 puttin down 310, give or take,

Thing is, the LT1's Torque curve starts earlier than the LS1, although the LS1 does make as much/if not more Tq.
That advanced headflow design is most potent as High rpms, and anyone will tell you that.
Although, thats a good thing.

The difference is heads/intake. Port the LT1 **** and dyno it again. You'll see what I mean.

LS1s are too expensive to justify the power, I'm happy with my cheaper than **** LT1.
