Default Building a Motor

Thinking of building this setup: 4.000 bore(stock), with 3.75 Crank, which is a 377. Anyone have had this built, or know anyone, and how good did it run?

It`ll be a good setup, but why not bore it 030 over to get the 6 more cubes

Yes, definately do some overbore to straighten the bores out and preferably getting them in the right place. A quality bore and hone job is worth it and not expensive.

I know alot of people do it .030 over. It's running the Cylinder walls pretty thin IMO..

Not unless you have a bad block core. Some of the LT blocks I see need to go .040" just to get the bores in the right spot. You can always go .020" over, I do that in FI builds all the time.

I went with a .045 over bore for my LT1. cause of a scratch in the cylinder wall.

There will be some bore wear and the longer stroke would push the rings past that, that alone would scare the hell out of me. Besides after the cost of the clearancing and balancing, hottanking and new bearings the bore and hone is spare change. Bore does affect headflow too, IMO not enough to justify a bigger than necessary overbore but is another small positive.
If you look some head companies advertize flow numbers at different bore sizes and make sure to list the bore size because it does have some effect.
