what is the correct procedure for testing the compresion on a lt1?

All spark plugs out, disconnect the Optispark connector on the passenger side of the intake, have somebody hold the throttle wide open and crank each cylinder for five compression strokes. Should go above 100 psi on the first stroke.

my motor had 1000 miles and I check 2 cly for the heck of it and it was 150psi
but i didn't take the other spark plugs out and I did not hold the throtle open...
I just wanted to see what it was...
oh but my motor has 11.3-1 CR

A stock b-body LT1 usually tests around 200psi and f-body would be slightly higher.
My stock shortblock with the heads and cam the compression is pushed to 11.5:1 at 100K it cranks nearly 230psi.

I tested my 165k block a few weeks ago. I was lazy and didnt know how long it would take to do it, so I removed only 4 plugs at a time. I think removing all of them just helps not to drain the battery.

Anyways, I tested average between 200 and 208 on all 8 cyls.
