cams What is the best cam to go with to generate the best power for a heads cam car on and offf the bottle? I dont really care about gas mileage I just want raw power.. Do you have to choose between all motor cam or a nitrous cam? Can you have both? Stock bottom end, top end kit done by LPE. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Re: cams I have the comp 306 in my car with lt-4 heads and intake i drive about 120 miles a day average around 20mpg and the car has been a best of 11.82@119.97 on the motor and on drag radials. I havent tried the n2o yet but i here alot of people say it works well with the cam hope this helps
Re: cams If you are lookin' for an "off-the-shelf" cam, The Comp Cams 306 is the way to go. But the BEST way to go in anycase is a custom ground cam. It will match to your heads and will give you optimal performance for your application. But they are more expensive.
If you look around you can find a used CC306 for about $175 used (if you decide to go that way).

Re: cams if your an auto, anything with a 112 LSA will almost definately need computer reprogramming. if you are a 6 spd, you can idle with just about darn near any cam. now, to get the best from a cam, you will most assuredly need to have it tuned. no cam can be thrown into the motor and be expected to put out record numbers without a little tuning here and there. back to the questions, can you run them without programming....on a 6 spd yes, you can run both the cams without tuning and have good performance, on a auto, the 306 cam will be darn near impossible to use as a daily driver without tuning and the 305 cam could possibly go without tuning, but not likely, and both would run like poopoo until tuned on the auto.
