Default making the lt1 an lt4

I want to do this on a 95 Bird with lt1, can you post a link. Or just explain with some detail about the kit. What parts? and how does the electronics work?

Thanks, Hank

First off we must be the only people named Hank in the world.

You will need the LT4 intake, heads, 1.6 rockers, LT4 hotcam"or cam of your choice", heavy duty timing chain{optional} and some computer tuning and there you have it.

My brother has this conversion kit on his 97 Z28.

It consists of:
LT4 heads
LT4 intake
1.6 Roller Rockers
LT4 "Hot Cam"

Along with all of the gaskets needed. That's if you buy the kit.

His car, with that kit, 58mm TB, MSD 6a, Hooker long tubes, Moroso CAI and MGF Racing tuning. 360rwhp 348lb-ft

If you're talking about making it an all out LT4, it'll take some more. 4 bolt block, nodular iron crank, balanced/blue printed rotating assembly. The Hot Cam is bigger than the regular LT4 cam.

GM Parts Direct has the conversion kit listed for $2,091. This is probably the same kit "Matt" was talking about.

Or if you'd rather be a real LT4, you could buy everything listed below (part numbers included):

P/N 12550630: LT4 Intake Manifold
P/N 12555332: LT4 Cylinder Head
P/N 12551142: LT4 Camshaft
P/N 10212808: LT4 Valve Spring Cap/Retainer
P/N 12555887: LT4 Timing Chain (single soller)
P/N 12551485: LT4 Nodular Iron Crankshaft
P/N 12551488: LT4 Head Gasket (composite)
P/N 12528884: LT4 Intake Gasket
P/N 17124251: LT4 Injectors (3.5gps 28lbs/hr)
P/N 12551526: LT4 Pistons
P/N 12528817: LT1/LT4 Piston Rings
P/N 12557779: LT4 1.6:1 Aluminum Rockers
P/N 10212809: LT4 Shim Spring
P/N 10206040: LT1/LT4 Crankshaft Seal
P/N 12551483: LT4 Valve Springs (100 lbs.)
P/N 12555885: LT4 Solid Cam Sprocket
P/N 12555886: LT4 Crank Sprocket
P/N 12551313: LT4 Exhaust Valve (1.55")
P/N 12555331: LT4 Intake Valve (2.00")
P/N 16214681: LT4 Knock Module

Might be kind of expensive... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />

There are 2 LT1 blocks, 1 being the 2-Bolt main LT1 block (used in the LT1 F-Bodies and Impalas), the other being the 4-Bolt main LT1 block (as used in the LT1 Corvettes, and various LT4 cars). They also all share the same 10125327 casting number. So really, there is no such thing as an "LT4 block"...
