the wires are probably heating up due to being grounded out... is the car hard to start or slow to start when you try to start it??? or is the battery going dead.. check around the red box and make sure there arent any grounds on or touching it...

could have just been a loose connection that melted the little red box. that's what happened to mine. now what that has to do w/ the rest of your problems, i have no idea.

that little red wire is extremely hot because theres a shitload of current passing through it. Whatever that red box was, at some point shorted out and is now sending its power directly to ground.

It'd probably help to find out what that thing is a remove it asap so your battery doesn't die. I'm not exactly sure how related to youre other electrical failures it is (failing coil and missfires), but I'm willing to bet its pretty close.

Exactly. You have a short somewhere. The red wire is hot from the battery, and the red box is your power distribution block.

First, remove the block (slide it towards the driver side and lift up) and look underneath it. Make sure the metal contacts inside are not touching the chassis. Then physically inspect every single wire running off the block, searching for any exposed wires, melted insulation, etc.

You should really hook an ammeter to the battery and check the current draw, then start disconnecting the fusible links one at a time and see which one has the highest current (least resistance).

im no newb to this stuff. i have made my own box because i couldnt get the wires off the block because they were square n ****. IF YOU HAVE an LT motor then you know what im talking about, if not, then you prolly dont and shouldnt try to analize it. but thank you. I duno why its getting hot. all wires all good.

ANYONE know why the dash would smoke directly in the center of a 94 Z28? its in the dash. not on my car. what is in there that would smoke? and thing like the CCM or any box? i know the harness runs back there.

I just replaced the box in my car (see sig, it's an LT1) with a new one that I purchased at the dealer (it was inexpensive, and my lid had broken off). So if you could not remove it yourself, there are still issues there. I'm not trying to be a dick, I am just explaining that you have not fixed the problem, but only attempted to patch around it.
I would check each wire for continuity, resistance, and voltage. All three are available on a multimeter, which are extremely inexpensive. This is much easier than checking for current draw, and would give you a much broader understanding of what is happening, IMHO.

I wasnt being a dick. i got a pm from some kid who knew nothing. thanks, i wouldnt have checked a volt meter to see what wire it is, then i could track it down and see were it leads to. but to me, all wires are good.
