a friend of mine wants to know if a 4L60E out of a 98 T/A will work in a 94 Z28

no it will not is the short answer, long answer would include details on the many hoops you could jump to make it work that are nowhere near worth the effort.

Pretty sure. Also believe the bellhousing on the LS trannies are removable.

I thought the only difference on the LS1 was the 9 o'clock or 3 o'clock bolt hole is not used. Quite a few 4L60E's are used with older style SBCs' they just have independent computers controlling them. Internals, splines and such are different.

That's probably the difference in the bellhousings. I knew there was one just didn't know what it was. Seems like I read that on the TH trannies that one bolt wasn't used so yeah that makes sense. I think also with the 4l60e's between LS motors and previous design the pilot bearing is different and probably a host of differences in electronics.

I believe the reason for one of those 2 bolt holes not being used. There simply isn't enough material in the LS1 block and people dry to drill one out and ruptures cylinder 7. ..Little bit off topic. I may be wrong though
