I dont know if this would help but last time i went sliding i broke the posi it will still drive and everything but when i would power brake it would only spin the pass side wheel. You can easily check by having the rear end up on stands or jacked up and have someone start the car and see if both wheels spin if not time for a new carrier. That could be your problem.

how does the posi have any effect of the power level you feel? and if the posi died, I don't think it's gonna make t feel slugish. BUT, if the geometry changed, or the parts start binding, I can see how it could effect it.

One of my cars would do that as well, rev fine at a light, and light throttle/down hill. But once a load was put on it, it bogged... well, turned out to be a constant miss fire... it was a cracked plug. I drove that car for 2 months like that... DAMN I was dumb...

I found(almost on accident), that a good way to find this out, is pull the plug out with greasy hands. the grease gets in the hair line crack, and you can see it very well.
I was gonna pull all the plugs, then go to the store and replace them. well, very first plug I pull, I see that hair crack in the ceramic. replace that one, missfire was gone. They were around a year old... after I parked the car for 6 months...
