So whats a good price for a 383 build?

using my motor or doing a core charge

also what kinda price am I looking at for bullet proofing my tranny?

the trans, bullet proof? you mean like top of the line, ranges from $1,800-$2,000, and sometimes more.

I'll pm you some short blocks for ideas

If you know how to assemble the block, and have a good, make that great machine shop near you. You could likely do a basic 383 shortblock for $1,500-$4,000. $1,500 being a seriously budget motor, meaning the cheapest parts, reused, referbished, used, and so on.

If power is what you want, and you have stock heads, consider getting them professionally ported. you will likely want ported heads anyways for the 383, and a decent set of ported heads will run $1,000-$2,000. heads are where the power is at.

Heads and cam 350> stock heads 383. Unless it's low-mid rrm torque your after. but I dout that.

plan on spending 3k for a solid motor that will hold its own, wether its a short block or else its your own block at the machine shop!
