Default Where did you put your cutout?

I know theres several locations for the cutout. Which is the loudest? Do you think I could run a cutout after my Y-pipe with no o2 issues?

Right under the rear passenger seat, tucks up nicely.

don't put it too close to the O2, or it will run rich. also, if it is to close to the headers, your not gonna make optnimum power. Theres a trick to know how far you want the pipe(where to put the cutout, or H pipe, or total length on track cars) but I don't feel like explain unless you really care. It's VERY easy.

I honestly donno how close is "too close", but I wouldn't put it any closer than 6" from the O2's, a foot if you can.

An old racer trick is to put a line of nail polish/regular spray paint down the mid pipes. then you go drive the car till it gets nice and hot. Get under there, and the paint near the cat will be burnt, and the paint near the rear will be fine. right where the paint starts to discolor(turn brown) is the minimum length you want the exhuast. The reason is you want to use the heat from the exhuast to help pull the rest of the gases out.

I bet there is a more technical way to figure this out, but it seams to work very well.

I mounted mine a few inches in front of my rear tire, real easy to get access to, and usually is fairly cool to recap. I also like to ride around with my windows open, so yeah the exhaust gasses are still exiting towards the back so I don't get choked out sitting at a light or something. Oh yeah car is stupid loud also, running BBk shorties and ypipe, 3" flowmaster piping.

oh yeah, i forgot about the exhaust gas thing, haha. good point camar0corey. I was thinking of running e-cut outs, the thought of being able to switch them on and off would be very fun. My previous car (the monte) was loud as hell all the time. Since it was my daily driver, the constant loud exhaust got really annoying, atleast to me. But every once in a while would be great. Plus I'd rather pay the $200 for e-cutouts and be lazy, instead of $30 and constantly take the plate off and put it back on, thanks for the help everyone!

after thinking about it, do to the extra bit of pipe with the cutout, I don't think you could put it too close to the O2. also, it's not the 2nd set you need to worry about, its the first set of O2's.

I have seen alot of people put a small section of pipe after the E-cutout with a little down turn after so it deflects the exhaust away from the underneath of the car, plus probably helps with the resonation inside the car.

how hard is it to install the wire/switch for the cutout? i've put in new speedometers on cars which they werent intended and had them work great, so I have some experience in stealing with wires, holes in the car, and making sure the wire isnt on the ground

Mine runs through the body plug undeneath the car.. I put a slit through it and ran the wire underneath the carpet up under the center console and to the data link connector where the switch is.
