Default A couple of TH350 questions..

I have a TH350 and i want to put this in it
http://store.summitracing.com/partd...15&autoview=sku

1)is that all i need to have it rebuilt?

also, im gonna get a vig3500 probably or something similar to that TC.

2)Im not sure how to tell if i need a new driveshaft. Is there a way to tell like measuring it or something?

3) What im going to get is the rebuild kit, a new shifter and a stall. Is there anything else I need?

4) do I really even need a new stall?

Thanks to anyone who answers some of the questions. Thanks

1. The link did not work for me.

2.If the th350 you get has a 9in tale shaft, and you are still using your stock rear end, you can use the stock drive shaft. If you have a stock driveshaft with a 12bolt, the drive shaft will need to be shortened.

3. Trans mount will have to be modified. New dip stick tube. Would probably be a good idea to change out the flexplate.

4. Im not the best to answer questions about converters, but I think that you will have to get a new one. If you have a A4 then the converter is made to lockup, and unless you spend alot of money you will not be able to lockup your converter with a th350. I swaped from a M6 to a th350 so I just bought a small bolt pattern th350 converter.

At the very back of the trans is the tail shaft. There are two bolts on the top and two on the bottom that connect it to the trans. If you measure from that point back the tail shaft will be eather 6 or 9in long. You want the 9in for the stock driveshaft. The 6in will still work but you will need a longer drive shaft. The trans with 9in tail shaft I got came out of a 1970s truck. Im not sure what cars did or did not come with them.

In not sure on the exact length. It might be cheaper to convert the trans and output shaft to a 9in setup, while having it rebuilt. I did a quick search on ebay, and found one for sale. There is also a company that makes a conversion kit that allows you to use a newer tailshaft from a 700r4 on the back of the th350. Ask your trans builder if he can get ahold of one. This way with a simple change to your speedo settings in the computer you can get the speedo to read correctly. The only way to get your factory speedo to work with a th350 tailshaft is with about $200 in little gears and such that need to be swaped out. I never messed with the speedo stuff. You will find your self speeding much less with only 3speeds and no overdrive, so I just left it for the time being.

The only way to make a drive shaft longer is to remove both yokes and have a longer tube welded in.
