I saw an add for the edelbrock intake, where was it, hmmmm lemme think, shhh i'm thinking, oh yea! It was the High performance Chevy, I believe 1996 was the year, was apart of a cam/intake package that never was to be.

maybe I'm confused, isn't our intake one of the reasons we can't make power like the LSx motors?

no. not really. Our intake manifold can be a restriction when making a lot of power, but the main reason we can't make lotsa hp like LSX engines is because we use 23 degree heads. I dont spend much time in the ls1 section, but IIRC they use 11 degree heads...

Companies know they could make $$$ developing an LT1 intake that makes power, but they can make even more $$$ with their time and R&D by developing products for newer engines. Maybe someday you might see one, who knows

if you look at the port shape on LSx heads, you can see they are way different, and acounting for part of the why the LS manifold works so well with it. Just taking a manifold from one engine it works gear on, and adapting it to anouther... well, that is setting up for disapointment.

I agree with "caprice" that the reason they are coming out with the intake is the discontinue of the LT4 intake, and the fact that the Air Gap design works ok on an intake manifold that has coolant running thru it, it must be great on everything! I saw that epoxy manifold thread, and have to say they were on to something.
