un huh. I think thats what people fail to see. Yea, they are expensive, but they tend to be realatively problem free for 100k. Thats not to say they don't fail sooner, or are garentee'd to go 100,000. I know of caprice guys that put closw to 200k on stock opti's. and on the other side, some guys have killed them before 50k, and I'm sure some have been worse. I also wonder why the GM ones is considered junk, while this 2 month old MSD is a god, at almost twice as much.

I have almost 90k on my opti right now. I had a spark plug/wire problem for a bit, but the opti has been alright...for now

As stated, the timing adjustment is a useless feature on LT1s and I doubt anyone will ever use that.

If you want to change timing on an LT1 you alter the timing tables in the pcm. That is a far better and more flexible solution.

Because MSD is generally regarded as a reliable name in ignition products and their opti has many design improvements over the stock one.

we will have to wait and see if all the improvements really make it last much longer then a stock one. as of right now it is just a high priced unit with a worthless timing adjustment. i know they had some problems on the first batch that came out. i cant wait to see how well they do long term.

i have the MSD...works good so far....and like you said we'll have to see how well it does long term.

nobody knows if something is a bad or good product until they try it and put it to the test

Yeah, it's definitely not certain yet, but given the development effort that went into trying to improve GMs design combined with how bad the stock opti is, I would be shocked if they didn't achieve at least a modest improvement.
