Default 1996 Caddilac Broughm LT1

I may be purchasing a mint condition 1996 Fleetwood Brougham from a funeral parlor/friend. It has 38k original miles and is in excellent shape. Anyway, I know it's probably not the best car to modify but it does have the LT1 found in the Impala SS/Buick Roadmaster and the car does weigh in pretty heavy. Last of the big ones. I figured maybe a nitrous kit as a cheap means of getting some decent numbers out of it. Any other suggestions?

Why modify a "excellent shape" Cady with only 38,000 miles? Drive as a daily driver and spend the extra money on the ls1. At least, thats what i would do.

96capricemgr, thanks for the links i'm on there checking them out

96sweetTA i know what you mean. i don't plan on racking the miles on it though, ill probably sell it to make some profit (getting it for 4k). i already have a caddy as a daily driver and the ls1 sees weekends and nice weather. i'm a big fan of caddilacs, probably bigger than fbods. i figured it would be pretty cool to have one running in the low 14's, it's not something you see everyday.

well, The entire reason I bought my caddy was because I wanted a caddy that ran 14's on a RWD platform. I got mine to run 14.9 with a home built intake(just a pvc pipe with a filter) with no heat shield, TB pypass, dynomax catback with Summit Turbo mufflers(out flow flowmasters, but are very quiet, and fit a big caddy's personality), and beehive valve springs. Mine was a base model, with the R1P option(livery option, like limo, and hearse's, and the brougham 2.93 rear end) , and with me(155lbs), and half a tank of gas it weighed 4490lbs. Theres a guy in ISSF who has one going 13's on full bolt ons, 3.73's, 3000 stall, and a comps cams 502. I had a bunch of that stuff for mine, headers, 3.73's.

I agree that a 38k caddy is not one generally reguarded as a racer, but they can do it, and will be about .2 in the quarter behind an Impala with the same mods. Wish I hadn't been so dumb abd totalled it, it gave alot of cars a surprise on the street.

I say: Keep it, do full bolt ons, and you can have fun with it. Or, make some money off it, then find one on the cheap with over 100k on it. at 38k, and mint, it wil sell for way over 4k. i see them on ebay like that for close to 10k!! have fun!

thanks man, i didn't think they were that quick. i thought a blower would get it into the low 14's. i work about 1.5 miles away from work, so a commute wouldn't really rack up the miles all that much. i just like the idea of having this big tank of a car (luxury one at that) and surprise a few stangs on the street while being very comfy.

i also want mods that i can easily remove and return back to stock in case i sell it. i wouldn't want a loud exhaust on it, a tad louder than stock is the most i'd want. i figured a cold air kit, pulleys and catback to start and possibly some juice after a few runs are made at the track.

as for the SS, i have a set of TSP heads that have been laying around for the last few months and a dry nitrous kit should be at my doorstep soon. that car is pretty much finished.

I wouldn't mind having one of the older Caddy's, like the late 70's, early 80's, and putting a Big Block in it, some Gears and Tires, and having that run fast. That will suprise people.
I feel you about modding something nice. I own a 1990 Caddy DeVille as my second Car. I am currently driving that cause the Camaro is currently down for maintenance.
A nice old Caddy is hard to come by..
