new at this cam stuff guys. so bare with me i couldnt find where else to post. would the lt4 hot cam be good for me? stock other then CAI and flowmasters but with a cutout and nitrous. what all do i have to get to run the cam? i hear you can with the stock lifters and springs as long as you dont go to big. didn't know if the hotcam fell under that. i read up a bunch on here but most i found was on the ls1's. any help or where to find more info would be great. thanks!!!

I would get new springs, the stock ones are not ****. From what everyone says, it's supposed to be good with spray. Lifters are no problem, you can use them as long as they are good. I would get a Tune done after you install the Cam.

I have not taken it to the track. BUt I love the kit in my car I was driving it 500 miles a week for the last few months. It runs great and the gas mileage is reasonable. I have all of the usual bolt-ons full exhaust w lt's and hendricks ported the heads and the intake. It's got 3:42's and runs awesome. For something to daily drive and if you do not want to have to tinker w **** to keep it running I do not think you can go wrong. The general did put their time and a lot of R&D into this package. Yes it is older blah blah but it runs circles around stock and there is no guess work w parts the general did it for us. I just ordered a new gm chain there is not point in wasting the money on that expensive lt4 kit. Smallblocks have never had timing chain issues. Execept for those of us who were around to remember the poly cam gear in early 80's 305 and 350's. Go for it you will not regret it.

12.50's on motor
11.80's with a 85 shot.
The hotcam was a very nice/mild/street cam.

Well, I ain't the Caprice guy, but I have an Impala SS. I have the hotcam kit plus longtubes and every other bolt on, 2400 Holeshot, 3.73 M/T DR's and 98% full weight (spare tire out) (4230lbs). My best in the 1/8th so far was a 8.67 spinning justa little off the line and a hanging 2-3 shift. We dynoed it last year with a mail tune in it and laid 300/300. We stiall have yet to have it tuned again, but it still pulls pretty hard. I know the tq is way low, but I just need to drive or trailer it to the dyno shop again...and come up with another $300.

BUT, this winter, the 305 or 306 is going in. with a 3200 stall. The worst part is this is the wifes car and she races it.
