Hmm interesting.
Not really, I had the same impression when I test drove a auto WS6 Ls1 car. Our cars just feel torquier. Speedometer still moved mighty quick.
I don't know why people argue, I think both are great motors.
I like the Mustang statement, cause its so true. I remember my first races against the new stangs, thinking, "Hey they have 300hp off the lot, maybe they won't lose quite as fast." Wrong. Funny stuff.
Another thing that felt wierd about the 02 WS6 I test drove, it felt like it took more effort to steer. I have 275s on my car, so it couldn't have been the 275s on the WS6, so I hated the auto and the steering.
Did the steering feel wierd to you Ironxcross??

No, I completely understand the common knowledge the "LS1 is superior". It's a newer motor, got more technology, etc. The point I am making is that with the HUGE amount that people talk up the LS1's, I didnt really see the "HUGE" difference. And I still dont think that difference is worth 5k-10k. But then again, this car is my daily driver, its not the weekend warrior track car.

Yeah, it sort of did, the later fourth gens feel bigger, not sure why. I also hated the auto LS1. It seemed like it did everything possible to avoid kicking down and utilizing the high end of the LS1. My 6 speed spoils me, i guess
I need to try one with a decent stall in it, maybe then I won't hate automatics.

like said before it prolly just FELT slower due to the lt1 being a TQ monster and having a much lower Tq curve, im sure next to each other down the street you will see the difference.

i guess thats it in a nutshell, the lt1 feels like its going faster, the ls1 is, but you wouldnt know if you had a blindfold on and couldnt see the speedometer

yea the DT loss is what 20-25hp in an auto and 12hp in an M6... that you will feel.
ive never had it on the freeway, so i think id hit 140 nicely even with the 3.23's in her car.
another thing too is i have 4.10's and M6 so that accounts for accel feel.

well when i bought my Z i had just finished test driving a 00 TA A4
the Z did feel faster at lower speeds (under 70) but after that the TA could pull it
the TA also felt like a larger car
the TA was a nicer car and a lil quicker but for the money i had to get the Z
