thats just luck.

an LS1 would leak just the same with as many miles and years of use/abuse.

Both feel slow

Drive a turbo car with some power, and you will never be able to go back to NA lol

LT1s need a bit more mods to go as fast as LS1s modded or un modded

At least we can all agree other cars need ALOT OF MODS!s to even keep up with either a LT1 or a LS1

So be happy you have a 4th GEN

Well Mike I want your opinion on my plan...

I was going to go to SBC with megasquirt and put my turbo kit on it. full build on the SBC. $5500 on motor and then a few grand for crossmember, megasquirt, and various things here and there.

But for less (or same.. ish) I could get a ls1 and buy new headers and adapt my turbo kit to the ls1. $900-1500 + $300 for headers +500 for a few things to make ls1 more boost ready +crossmember.

Someone give me their opinions.

I doubt it. The LT1 is a notorious oil leaker, with 4 oil seals and an intake manifold that leaks also. The LS1 is designed more like an import in that area, and therefore will not leak as much.

Stock LS1 pistons are only slightly stronger than stock LT1 pistons, so don't expect them to last in a boosted application.

Other than that, if your turbo is a rear-mount, then LS1 versus built SBC won't make much difference depending on the build.

an auto, stock LS1 feels slower then stock LT1's But mod for mod the LT1 will lose. I know, I've tried, it sucks. Pick the one you like. LS1's are coming down in price sooooooo that arguement is quickly going out the window.

I like my LT1, it was a good price, and is probably worth as much now or more than when i bought it almost 3 years ago... 245rwhp and 283 rwtq almost bone stock. I was gonna upgrade to an LS1 but i think im gonna keep the LT1 and just buy a DD.

having a fast LT1 is something to brag/show off more than an LS1, because you see fast LS1's everywhere. when youre at 450+hp at the wheels on an LT1 without nitrous then thats something to feel good about.

They are both sexy cars...id sure like to have either one. Id really rather an ls1 in a 97 firebird. thats the ultimate happy spot. they just need more low end tq. after putting up with the 4v 4.6's lackluster torque down low, i want something that lets you know whats going on, instead of having to read the speedo...reading is over rated.
