Can a Y pipe be modified

I need a y pipe to fit stock manifolds and a buddy of mine has an slp... What I want to know, is can this y pipe be modified (cut) to fit my long tubes when I get them ???

94 z 28..... I figured it would be a cut and weld type deal ..
