Default Main girdle and windage tray clearence question

I had been reading on the 2 bolt vs 4 bolt thread that was recently active and decided since I was replacing my oil pan with a Milodon that I might go and stud the mains since I just have a 2 bolt block. Would I have adequate clearence to add a main girdle with the long stroke AND run a windage tray? I don't want to buy a girdle only to find out it doesn't work.

Oh yeah, shooting for 650rwhp total with the big shot. My 2 bolt setup has already seen 561 torque at the wheels so don't tell me the block can't take it.

I received some info that said that the girdle would act as a windage tray so I assuming now that I could remove the pan's tray and run the girdle.

Don't put a bandaid girdle on a chevy, doesn't make sense.

So stick to ARP studs and be done with it?

OK I guess saving money is outta the question here. I've found PN's for Milodon main caps: the front cap and the 3 center set. PN 11150 and 11153. Milodon's website says the 3 center set are "Narrow register 4.490" wide." Are these correct for my application?

Also can these be installed with the rotating assembly in the block?

Main caps? Absolutely not. You must do a line hone if/when you replace the main caps with different ones. Block needs to match the cap or it'll all go to hell real fast...

I think my line hone cost under $100 on my block. One of the most critical dimensions on the motor you're messing with there.

And if you take it to the machine shop, might as well get splayed mains installed. My Callies splayed main caps are nice, and they're narrower than some others (good for windage clearance). My Milodon diamond windage tray fit with virtually no problems.

Yep I finally found some more info on that. I had a machine shop do all the original machine work so I didn't get involved at all in the assembly part. So I kinda had to learn all over again. So yeah forget that noise. I ain't taking the actual motor apart so I'll just stud it.
